Day 1 (Edinburgh)

Day 1 in the books. With slight delays in flights, we all made it into Edinburgh airport without a hitch. Dave graciously decided to get the SUV ready for us since he arrived early and waiting my and Dr. Jiovanazzo’s flight to arrive. Per usual, I ordered the kosher meal. I highly recommend it for any airline food.

The drive into Edinburgh was interesting to say the least. Negotiating the streets of downtown Edinburgh while learning to drive on the other side of the road all while fighting the effects of jet lag proved to be an interesting challenge for Dave. Only one curbing of the car later, we got to the hotel which was, by all standards, one of the sketchiest hotels we’ve ever stayed in. We quickly found out that the reason why all of the hotels were so expensive was that we decided to book our trip during Festival season (August). This week has the two biggest festivals of the year in downtown Edinburgh; the Fringe Festival and the Military Tattoo festival. They say that during festival season, the population of Edinburgh doubles in size, and we’ve seen the proof first hand.

After touring the city, grabbing some fish and chips, a few pints and a few wee drams of whisky, and learning that you’re not supposed to “wear your cap indoors”, we hit the sack to get ready for tomorrow’s drive out to Troon. Turnberry is our first course on the docket. The bets and games are already in the works. First one on the books is Dave vs. me, best net of the entire trip, winner gets to play in the Bent Creek Member-Guest in 2012. It’s on.

  1. Did I hear Harrington has a 14 handicap? Not the Shaggy I know. You guys better watch out or Shaggy will take all of your money.
BTW I don't believe for one minute you didn't know it was "festival season." Perfect timing.

  2. The crow carrying the message just landed in MN. It says Juvie shot a 103? No pars? Juvie, if you are going to hack like that there are courses here you can play for $20 and you would be low man for the day. Find your game. I predict a 82 next round.
